Chapter 1: Introduction
We start the course with an introduction to V-Ray for 3ds Max, covering its tools, functions, and workflow. We also set up ACES, which will be used throughout the course and explored in detail later.
Chapter 2: Lighting
The next section of the course is all about lighting, you learn about the fundamentals of lighting and different lighting techniques while learning about the vast and unique lighting tools that V-Ray offers.
Chapter 3: GI
Section 3 dives into Global Illumination, explaining real-world light behavior and V-Ray's simulation using GI engines like brute force and light cache. It covers their use in various lighting scenarios, pros, cons, and rendering flicker-free object animations with GI.
Chapter 4: Materials
In the next section of the V-Ray 5 Masterclass, we start discussing V-Ray Materials and maps. Not only you learn about all the specific V-Ray Materials, but after watching this section, you will be equipped with the core shading fundamentals and cutting-edge techniques in shader development.
Chapter 5: Camera
We dive into V-Ray cameras, covering types, depth of field, and motion blur. You’ll explore the V-Ray Physical camera, stereoscopic 3D rendering, lens effects, auto exposure, and VR-ready renders.
Chapter 6: Rendering
Section six dives into V-Ray rendering, covering image sampling, ray tracing, and color management with ACES. It explores GPU and hybrid rendering, V-Ray Frame Buffer settings, and exporting techniques. The section includes Nvidia’s AI denoiser, V-Ray’s native denoiser, and Render elements for post-processing in Fusion. Additional render settings are also explained in a few videos.
Chapter 7: Miscellaneous
In the next section, we cover various topics like V-Ray proxy, alembic import, object and light properties, and more. You'll also learn to render openVDB files and create realistic clouds, fire, smoke, and explosions using V-Ray.
Chapter 8: What's New In V-Ray 5.1
This section covers new features in V-Ray 5.1, such as the Translucency section, Multiple Additive Dome Lights, and Intel Open Image Denoiser. It includes the VFB Stamp, advanced Material Override, Progressive Caustics, and Cosmos. We also updated some videos from material section align with new features.
Chapter 9: What's New In V-Ray 5.2
In this section, we learn about all the new features that were added to V-Ray 5.2 including the new V-Ray Decal, Sharpen/Blur layer and Batch Image Processing in the Frame Buffer, Atmospheric Light Contribution Control, Extended Material Override Options and more.
Chapter 10: What's New In V-Ray 6
This section introduces the new features in V-Ray 6 with 9 videos and nearly 60 minutes of content. It covers Chaos Scatter, Procedural Clouds, the new Thin Film component, V-Ray Enmesh, Finite Mode in the dome light, Decal with Displacement Mapping, Object Hierarchy in V-Ray Proxy, Panorama View, Composition Guides in VFB, and the Texture Batch Load Tool.
